My blog, HR Observations, begins its 15th year. I cannot believe I have been writing this blog for 15 years. What started out as an attempt to have a voice as a lonely HR consultant has given me national and international recognition. I am not famous or well-known by any means, but it has given me some name recognition I might not otherwise have. It has taught me a great deal and made me keep current in the profession, a task that has become harder as the years have gone by.
Human Resources is a difficult profession, much harder than upper management gives it credit for being. Mistakes made and uncorrected can cost companies hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions. Often that is not recognized until too late. HR today requires a much different worker than in the past. The HR professional needs to be educated, knowledgeable, thoughtful, aware and hardworking. Today the HR professional needs to be skilled in dealing with people, technology, business, and juggling. Yes, I said juggling. To hold up all the pieces of HR in today’s world takes the skill of a circus juggler.
Although I have not written as much lately as I have in the past I will continue to inform and hopefully be around to write in another year.
Thanks for being a reader!
